TORONTO, ON – The 10th Annual Toronto Santa Speedo Run lit up the fashionable Yorkville area of Toronto in a sea of red Speedo bathing suits as up to 100 scantly clad male and female Santas’ ran rampant through the streets of the Bloor/Yorkville area.
The weather this year cooperated to the degree where revellers had to remove their mittens as the temperature hit a balmy 10C degrees… a huge break compared to year’s run when the mercury hit a low of -15C with snow and sleet.
The event differs from the Boston Santa Speed run as runners are required to fundraise a minimum of $250 to participate. The run founded by Matt Freeman some 10+ years ago (after a summer run with friends) has raised more than $300,000 for the Toys and Games Fund at the Toronto Hospital for Sick Children.
